The telecommunications industry in Thailand is subject to its own sector-specific regulations and has greatly evolved over the past few decades. As in many other countries, the telecommunication industry in Thailand began with infrastructures provided solely by the government, through the Telephone Organization of Thailand (TOT) and the Communications Authority of Thailand (CAT). Both the TOT and CAT were eventually privatized as part of the government’s move towards making the industry more competitive. Other private companies have been permitted to provide telecommunications services as well, making the telecommunications industry in Thailand one of the more competitive in Southeast Asia.
As the telecommunications industry is transitioning, so are the local laws and regulations. We are at the forefront of telecommunications developments in Thailand and routinely advise clients on all manner of licensing and compliance issues.
