The Bangkok Post reports that DTAC has said it will halt expansion of its existing 3G service and prepare its network for 4G if it wins licences for spectrum at the 3G auction on October 16.
DTAC's CEO, Jon Eddy Abdullah, earlier proposed returning an unused 25Mhz of its 1800Mhz frequency to the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) in exchange for a 4G license, as reported here.
This announcement by DTAC seems to be intended to avoid the constraints under its existing concession, and position itself to enter into new licensing arrangements.
