On 15 May 2017 the Legal Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand (AMCHAM) will welcome U.S. Department of Justice Attaché Catharine Hartzenbusch, who will deliver remarks on current trends in the criminal enforcement of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). The FCPA is a U.S. law that generally makes it illegal for companies and persons to influence foreign officials with personal payments or rewards. The has been vigorously enforced over at least the last decade, and it is of paramount importance to any business person or company that does business abroad. Thailand has been at the center of several major FCPA cases. More information about the FCPA and other anti-corruption laws are available in this section of the “Knowledge” part of our website.
